Doyers Street bends so sharply that it used to be called the Bloody Angle, and halfway round the bend is an unmarked door. Inside, bartenders in lab coats make drinks out of herbs and house bitters under a marble bar.
The theme is heavy. The location does most of the work anyway: there is nowhere else in Manhattan that feels like that block at night.
