How do you beat fresh Belgian frites and a beer? Everything is fried to order, and these are the best fries we’ve had in the city. The sauce list is long enough to be intimidating, but they’ll happily let you taste your way through it — we’ve watched people work through five and seven samples at a time without a word of complaint. Ours is the aji verde. Plain is also a winner.

What to know

They pour what is very likely the most generous beer in New York — you’ll need to take a sip the moment it’s handed to you or it goes over the side. The room is tight and seating is limited, but just ask whether a seat is free. It’s a community in there, and slushies are on the menu too.
