Most Indian restaurants in Manhattan play it safe. Semma doesn’t. The chili stays loud, the coconut stays rich, and the menu comes from Tamil home cooking instead of the North Indian dishes everyone already knows. It has a Michelin star, and it earned it the hard way.
The room is small and warm. Getting a table is the only hard part.
