Spicy Village

Big tray chicken on Forsyth Street — spicy, numbing, and built for a table, though we know someone who finishes one alone.

Going? Tell them MUSEENYC sent you. It's not a discount and there's nothing to redeem — we just want them to know where you heard it.

Everything they make is good, but the one to order is the big tray chicken — da pan ji, the monstrous chicken, whatever you want to call it. Perfectly spicy, properly numbing, chicken and potatoes both cooked exactly right. People usually share it. We know someone who eats the whole thing himself.

What to know

Do not forget to add noodles. We ask for two — two servings — because there is something genuinely special about these hand-pulled noodles soaking up what’s left in the tray. The room is small enough that a party of five is a logistical event, so go early or wait on the sidewalk.
