Roosevelt Island Tramway

A cable car over the East River for the price of a subway ride. Worth it if you can make it, but you are not missing much if you cannot.

One fare on OMNY. You rise up over the river next to the Queensboro Bridge and land on Roosevelt Island a few minutes later.

Worth it if you can make it, but you are not truly missing out if you skip it. For a better ride through the air, in our opinion, take one of the subway lines that cross the Manhattan or Williamsburg Bridge: a better ride over the water, and you are on your way somewhere anyway.

What to know

One subway fare, same as any ride. Best at dusk.
