About an acre, hedged in on all sides, with brick paths, plane trees and benches that face each other rather than a view. It is not a destination park and does not try to be — this is the square a neighborhood built for itself.
What to know
Free. Verandah Place runs along the south side: a mews of converted stables, one of which Thomas Wolfe lived in. Worth folding into a walk through Cobble Hill and Carroll Gardens rather than crossing town for.
