The beach is only part of it. There’s the boardwalk, the Cyclone — a wooden coaster running since 1927 — the Wonder Wheel, the pier, the aquarium, and a stretch of Surf Avenue that has been selling the same things for a century. Few cities have anything like it inside their own transit system.

What to know

The D, F, N and Q all end here, which makes it one of the easiest beaches in the city to reach. Summer weekends are packed. Going in the off-season, when the rides are shut and the boardwalk is empty, is a completely different and arguably better trip.
