Hudson River Greenway
The most scenic ride in New York — get lost on it, and the George Washington Bridge never seems to get closer.

Get absolutely lost on this, up or down. The path runs the length of Manhattan’s west side, almost entirely separated from traffic, and riding it takes you into beautiful neighborhoods you would never otherwise have reason to enter. Being right next to the water the whole way is magnificent. Ride far enough uptown and you hit real culture, block by block.
What to know
Heading north, the George Washington Bridge somehow never seems to get any closer — that’s part of the experience. It’s shared by cyclists, runners and walkers and is the most heavily used bike path in the United States, so keep right and expect speed. The stretch between Chelsea and Riverside Park is the most consistently open to the water.
