A beautiful beach with an amazing culture of its own: peaceful on weekdays and lively on weekends.

Moses connected two islands with landfill and trucked in the sand to make it, then put a grand bathhouse and colonnade at the back. On a hot weekend it is salsa, barbecues, handball and several thousand people having a better day than anyone on a rooftop.

The Rockaways get the surf and the write-ups. This gets the block party.
