An elevated freight line that ran until 1980, sat derelict for two decades, and was replanted as a linear park rather than torn down. The architecture and the greenery along the path are remarkable, and thirty feet up the city rearranges itself around you.
What to know
It is not a one-way corridor — there are plenty of entrances and exits along its length, so you can join and leave wherever suits. Midday in summer is genuinely crowded; early morning is a different park entirely. The planting is designed to look self-sown. It isn’t.
