The walls are covered in painted album sleeves and the calendar runs every night with several acts, most of them free. West African bands, reggae, jazz, rock, and whatever the booker liked this week.

It is run by a Nigerian-Burkinabé family and it does more for live music in this city than venues ten times its size.

What to know

Usually free, nightly. Check who is on and turn up.

Going? Tell them MUSEENYC sent you. It's not a discount and there's nothing to redeem — we just want them to know where you heard it.

Getting in
Usually no cover. Several acts a night, so the room turns over.
