Henry Clay Frick’s Fifth Avenue mansion, with the collection still in the rooms it was assembled for. Three Vermeers, Bellini, Holbein, Rembrandt — hung at domestic scale, in domestic light, which is a completely different experience from a museum wall. It feels like real luxury, because that is exactly what it was built to be.
