It’s far, and it’s unique enough that we’d send a local up here, not just a visitor. If you ride the subway every day, this entrance will still feel like something out of a film — carved literally into the stone, with a long arched tunnel through the rock that comes out at the edge of Fort Tryon Park.
What to know
One of the deepest stations in the system: the Bennett Avenue entrance has no stairs at all because the platform is roughly 140 feet down, so elevators are the only way. Take the Fort Washington Avenue exit — it’s the good one. Then walk the neighborhood. The elevation changes alone will convince you you’ve left New York.
